A process for controlling and regulating the lamination temperature of a heatable laminator (1), which has a heater unit (6) and a lamination temperature measurement sensor (26), comprises activating the heater until the lamination temperature exceeds a start temperature which is less than a predetermined lamination threshold temperature. The lamination temperature is controlled to the threshold value, and the difference between them is used to calculate heater actuation time. When the lamination temperature drops below an absorption temperature that is lower than the threshold temperature, due to increased heat removal e.g. at the start of lamination, the heater is activated until the temperature is constant or rising.
