The method involves detecting the initial and actual evaporation pressures or the initial and actual evaporation temperatures by a pair of temperature or pressure sensor (8,9) provided in a refrigerant circuit, after a start of a refrigerant heating cycle at a predetermined time. A respective defrosting of an evaporator (4) is started or terminated, when a difference between the initial evaporation temperature and the actual evaporation temperature or a difference between the initial evaporation pressure and the actual evaporation pressure exceeds a predetermined threshold value.
