Method for recording and evaluating EEG derivations in which EEG data is recorded from a patient over a period of about 10 minutes. The derived temporal data is transformed into spectral data using a Fourier transform of the measured data. The transformed spectral data is further processed to yield more exactly defined quantitative parameters which are stored in memory and can be compared with earlier recorded data. Recorded spectral data are the alpha-capacity, barycentric frequency, etc. The invention also relates to a corresponding device for carrying out the method.
