The device has a gear wheel connection with very low mechanical friction with a larger drive wheel (6) on a wheel hub (7) and a further gear wheel (4) on the rotor axle of a dynamo (3). When the hub gear wheel rotates a direct frictionless drive acts on the dynamo gear wheel and hence on the dynamo. There is an arrangement for interrupting the generation of current by decoupling the dynamo gear wheel and dynamo.
