The filtering method selects an image section around a pixel with formation of a gradient field for determination of the preference direction of the pixels, used for obtaining algebraic rotation coefficients, for weighting measured values obtained from the image section. The results are entered in a memory and the process is repeated for each pixel to provide a direction filtered image, an image section of the filtered image selected for each pixel subjected to scale filtering using signal smoothing via at least 2 smoothing filters.
