PURPOSE: An image filtering method detecting a direction component of an edge and an image recognition method are provided to guarantee consistency of a filtering process in an image, thereby generating an output image showing similar effect which seems to enable people to recognize an object.;CONSTITUTION: An image filtering device filters an original image by each generated filter corresponding to a plurality of channels(320). The image filtering device selects a value of a channel in which an image unit value is maximized in each image unit(330). The image filtering device filters a second image generated by each generated filter corresponding to a plurality of channels. The device compares a channel of the second image with a channel of a third image.
