Waste water introduced into a shaft (2) is saturated with oxygen (13, 7) and supplied under pressure (3, 4) to pre-sedimentation (5). It is then microbially-purified (8) and post-clarified, to leave at the outlet (11). An Independent claim is included for corresponding plant carrying out the operations described. The shaft is equipped with an inlet (1) and pump (3), and is connected by a pressure line to the following stages of the plant.
