The security system for the connection between a vehicle and a trailer comprises a sleeve (9) which fits over the tow hook (6) and part of the tow bar (4). A raised tubular section (20) which fits over the release lever (8) has plates (24) which extend below it and a bolt can be inserted through aligned slots (26, 31) in the main housing and plates and locked in place by a padlock fitted through a hole in its free end.
