Operation sheet (1) comprises at least one opening (20, 22) providing access for the surgeon, a first covering region (2) for the head and arms which hangs downward, and a second covering region (3) spread horizontally over the body. The operation sheet has a slit (6, 7) opening downward to the edge at the transition (4) from the first region into the side parts (8, 9) of the second region. The slit edges overlap and the overlapping region is large enough so that even when the operation sheet moves to either side of the slit the slit remains closed by the overlap. Preferred Features: The operation sheet is made of a boilable and sterilizable material, e.g. cotton or laminate.
