Method provides a signal representing a degree of correlation between samples of a received signal separated by a period of the useful part of symbol. Signal provides as output for each signal an interval during which significant correlation is found. Determines sub-interval within which maximum degree of correlation occurs and arranges for synchronization pulse in this sub-interval. Independent claims describe a method of generating a synchronization pulse and an OFDM receiver.
