A bonding method is effected by a single component structural adhesive with an integral catalyst which is cross-linked by an initial thermal splitting of catalysts into reactive groups followed by an exothermic epoxy reaction. A bonding method is effected by a single component structural adhesive with an integral catalyst which is cross-linked by an initial thermal splitting of catalysts into reactive groups followed by an exothermic epoxy reaction. Process time saving is achieved by pre-heating the adhesive at high temperature outside the normal bonding period to effect splitting of the catalysts. Only then is the adhesive supplied to the edge seams and heated to effect an exothermic final cross-linking.
