A water tub (2) has washing water. A laundry tub (3) has laundry for washing. Both fit inside a casing (1) around a shaft. An agitator (4) fits around the shaft in the bottom section of the laundry tub and links to a motor (6) via a clutch (5) to interrupt force flow. A water function generator (11) generates a water function in the washing water fed to the laundry tub. An Independent claim is also included for a method for washing in stages operated by the present invention.
