Use (M1) of expressed sequence tags (ESTs), or variants, of the unigene cluster HS169395 (HS1), HS127144 (HS2) and/or HS132793 (HS3) for diagnosis and therapy of tumors, in which their expression rates in tumor cells and/or lymph nodes are determined, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a composition for treating tumors comprising substances (A) that block expression of the specified ESTs, or variants ( (A) are introduced into tumor cells or lymph nodes); (2) a variant of HS1 (comprising a fully defined 2826 bp sequence given in the specification) for diagnosis or therapy of tumors; and (3) use of protein BAB13960 (comprising a fully defined 145 amino acid sequence given in the specification) for diagnosis and treatment of tumors.
