Process for cooling overlapping wire coils produced during rolling comprises using a cooling air stream which can be energetically modulated together with its flow profile over the width of the cooling air channels (2) of a cooling bed (1) by a displacement element (3) which can be adjusted in the cooling channel. An independent claim is also included for a device for cooling overlapping wire coils produced during rolling comprising an air blower (6) with connected cooling air channels (2) and nozzle openings (4) arranged below the transport plane of the wire coils (15). A displacement element is assigned to each nozzle opening and connected to an adjusting device.
