The method involves estimating the magnetic flux of the electric motor (13) using the phase currents (i1-i3)and the phase voltages (u1-u3) applied to the motor and controlling or regulating the torque depending on the estimated magnetic flux (Psis). A control parameter for a torque controller is determined using the estimated magnetic flux. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for electric motor torque control or regulation, a controller for a steer-by-wire system, a memory element for a controller and a computer program for implementing the method.
