The adapter device (1) has an adapter arm (4) provided with 2 parallel rotation axes (5,6) at its opposite ends, respectively used for the operating console and for coupling the adapter arm to the seating surface (23) of a vehicle seat (3). One or both of the rotation axes is provided with an overload protection device with a first stage allowing a free pivot movement and a second stage permitting a pivot movement when a given force is overcome. An Independent claim for a vehicle seat for a commercial vehicle provided with an adapter device for an operating console is also included.
