Liquid crystal arrangement comprises a layer containing a cholesteric material sandwiched between two electrodes. The cholesteric material has different preferred orientation and different wall coupling on opposite electrodes. The difference between the angles between the directions of preferred orientation and the electrode surfaces on the opposite electrode is at least 30 deg , preferably 60-90 deg . An Independent claim is also included for a process for producing the above liquid crystal arrangement.
