18.3: Bistable Paper-White Display Device Using Cholesteric Liquid Crystals

摘要

We have developed a reflection type paper-white display device using cholesteric liquid crystals and polymer materials. This device switches between a transparent planar state and a scattering focal conic state and both states are stable without a field. We obtained a good contrast by making surface structure of a polymer matrix smooth.
