Pressure gradient reversal between water-conducting layers erects water barrier wall in lower layer at gap between to urge water up to upper more accessible layer for decontamination of groundwater.
A water barrier wall (8) is erected in a gap area (4) so as to reach down at right angles to the lower water-conducting layer (2), the wall sited behind the gap aea viewed in the water flow direction in the layer (2). The top end of the wall (8) lies in the lower water-saturated part (1b) of the upper water-conducting layer (1a,1b) or again in the upper water-saturated part of the layer (1a,1b). In the upper layer (1a,1b) area the wall is fitted with a water-admitting door with associated equipment to either adsorb pollutants or react to these. The pressure of the lower layer necessarily rises in the gap (4) area because of the wall and thus helps to reverse the pressure gradients (5a,5b) between the upper and lower layers.
