Production of a casting mold comprises: forming a porous precursor produced from a metal oxide ceramic material by sintering with the aid of local heating; and infiltrating with a metal melt made from aluminum, magnesium or an aluminum-magnesium alloy. Preferred Features: The local heating is carried out using a laser beam, electron beam, plasma beam or electric arc. The metal oxide is made from a metal oxide compound which can be reduced with aluminum, preferably TiO2, Fe2O3, FeTiO3, CaO, Cr2O3, CuO, Cu2O, CoO, Co2O3, FeO, Fe2O3, Fe3O4, HfO2, Li2O, MnO, MgO, MoO3, Na2O, Nb2O, Nb2O5, NiO, Si2O, TiO2, V2O5, WO3, Y2O3, ZrO2, a mullite, a spinel, a zirconate or titanate.
