The pen includes an operating element (8) which is part of the holding section (7) through which the pen is held in the fingers. To extend the writing tip (4) the operating element is moved by finger pressure inwards across the longitudinal extension of the sleeve-like holder (3). The operating element is in driving connection with the writing tip through a transfer mechanism which is designed to draw back the writing tip into the rest position through the resetting force of the resetting element (5) when the holder is let go.
