The binder phase comprises at least one crystalline phase and contains at least two of the elements Fe, Ni, Co, Cr, Mo, W, Zr or V. The invention further relates to a method for production of said complex boride-cermet body, whereby, during the heating to the sintering temperature, the temperature is held constant for a time of up to 180 min at a temperature below that at which a liquid phase forms, or a greatly reduced rate of heating of under 5°C/min is used.
