The inner trim section of the vehicle has a unit to accommodate a folded airbag (5) and which has a flat center section (24) which is covered by a single layer airbag fabric and on the inner side is connected to the airbag cover (12). The flat center section at least in part is encompassed by channel accommodating airbag fabric folds. The center section of the unit is provided with a number of through-holes (15) for the passage of gas. The gas generator (8) is accommodated in a holder (11) installed below the airbag holder and which together with the unit to accommodate the airbag forms a closed gas distribution chamber. Independent claims are included for a dashboard with an airbag system provided for the front seat passenger, and for a procedure for pre-assembly of an airbag in especially a dashboard of a motor vehicle.
