The airbag has an inflatable chamber (3) which is formed of two cloth layers and is filled with gas from a gas generator. The generator is provided in connection with an opening of the chamber. The airbag is folded and accommodated in a casing, in a non-inflated condition. The casing is designed as a bag (10) made of a part of a fabric which forms the chamber. The bag is formed as separated regions of the layers. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing an airbag.
