The number of sets of letters/figures/and single signs are mechanically embossed by two embossing tools (11) between which the signs are mechanically stamped into the plate (12) in an embossing press (3). The embossed plate is removed (27) from the press and is connected by at least one conveyor (25) to a paint-coating plant (10) which forms a compact unit with the press.
