Production of a concrete additive comprises using a calcium oxide-deficient brown coal fly ash containing a maximum 15% total lime content with amounts in the region of 200 microns m to 4 mm sieved and separated and the remaining amount mixed with a hard coal fly ash in the ratio of 30/70 to 70/30 wt.%. Preferred Features: The calcium oxide content of the whole mixture is limited to a maximum of 10 wt.%.
