The switch element has at least one high temperature superconductor (1), e.g. a thin-film superconductor and a device (3) for radiating the superconductor with HF electromagnetic radiation in the MHz range, for switching it back to its normal conduction mode. The electromagnetic radiation device may use a flat magnetic coil (6) made of a superconductove material.
