Memory component for use with a controller (31) has a memory cell field (34) that is configured to store object depth data. The memory component includes a data modification circuit that receives new external object depth data for comparison with internal depth data. Dependent on the comparison result the internal data is overwritten with the external data. An Independent claim is made for a method for processing object depth data in a memory component with a memory control device.
