The flash photography system has at least one photometer device (19) with a multi-segment photometer sensor (22), having zone sensors for measuring the light provided by the camera flash during a pre-flash and a second photometer device (20) with a single-segment direct photometer sensor (23), for measuring the light provided by the main flash. The output signals from the zone sensors of the first photometer device are weighted and a central processing unit (13) calculates a correction value, used for determining the light reception quantity for the second photmetric device, in dependence on a photometry value and the weighting factors. A control terminates the light emission of the main flash in dependence on the measured light reception quantity being reached. An Independent claim for a camera provided with a flash photography system is also included.
