In the method proposed, a disc-shaped blank (12) is stamped from a steel sheet (10), a bulge (16) produced in the middle, and the disc deep-drawn to form a cup-shaped blank. The bulge is subsequently pressed flat, pushing material out to the edge where a flange will be formed. The flattened floor of the cup is then stamped out and a flange (70) formed on the blank (12d) by a stamping and deep-drawing tool (68), the flange being shaped by a stamping tool to form the finished flanged ring. This method enables chip-removing machining operations to be avoided, thus reducing manufacturing costs.
