PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material composition which is suitable for protecting the surface of an article directly exposed to the air and can form a film excellent in marring resistance, weatherability, tight adhesion, stainproofness, water resistance and chemical resistance. ;SOLUTION: This composition contains an organic resin and a silicone compound which has an average degree of polymerization of 3 to 100 and is represented by the average constitutional formula (X)_a(Y')_b(R¹)_cSiO_(4-a-b-c)/2 [wherein X is an organic group having at least one group selected among epoxy, mercapto, (meth)acryloyl, an alkenyl, a haloalkyl and amino groups; Y' is a hydrolyzable group or a mixture of hydrolyzable groups and silanol groups (provided that the silanol groups account for at most 20mol% of Y'); R¹ is a monovalent hydrocarbon group; and (a) is 0.05 to 0.90, (b) is 0.12 to 1.88, and (c) is 0.10 to 1.00, provided that a+b+c=(2.02 to 2.67)], and in which the content of silicon atoms having the organic groups X bonded thereto is 5-90mol% based on the all silicon atoms in the molecule and the units T represented by R¹-SiO_3/2 account for 10-95mol% of the all siloxane units.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
