Catalyst comprising a carbide of metal of group vib containing phosphorus and its use for hydrodesulphurization and the hydrogenation of the gasoils

The catalyst comprises an amorphous oxide support, a group VIB metal carbide and phosphorus (P), with the presence of phosphorus giving improved catalytic activity in the production of low sulfur and low aromatic gasoils. Independent claims are also included for the preparation and use of the catalyst.
