A monoclonal murine antibody, designated 1A11, which is an immunoglobulin (Ig) of type G1, k and recognizes specifically type 2 brevetoxins (I) and does not recognize type 1 brevetoxins, ciguatoxins or okadaic acid, is new. An Independent claim is included for the detection and immunopurification of (I) using 1A11.
