The picture is made from a flat panel of any suitable material, such as wood, hardboard, steel or glass, from which a series of shapes (1-11) are cut, leaving a surrounding frame. The shapes, which can be painted or varnished, are then attached to the frame and remaining portions of the panel at different levels by fastenings made e.g. from aluminium, steel or copper, combined with screws, nails, adhesive or welding, to produce the desired design. The fastenings can be made detachable so that the dismantled shapes can be reassembled in the original panel.
