The management system (1) for a machine workshop comprises a series of elementary modules (4) each associated with at least one machine tool (3) in the workshop. A warning and signaling device (7) is associated with each control module (4), providing an indication when a cutting or machining operation is being carried out, when control is being undertaken, or when various operations are being carried out on a machine. The indication may be provided by a set of different colored lamps mounted in a cylindrical display. The first lamp (8a) may indicate normal operation; the second lamp (8b) may indicated the presence of a message on the controlling computer screen; the third lamp may indicate the operation of a process by the cutting machine, and the fourth lamp indicates when the machine has stopped operating.
