Orientation control method for a low-orbit satellite using a triaxial arrangement of magneto-couplers together with a triaxial magnetometer for ensuring the satellite is correctly aligned using the Earth's magnetic field
Method in which magneto-couplers are used to create a magnetic moment that is co-linear with the command direction of the satellite. The latter is determined using the geomagnetic field in the satellite reference axes with the latter pointing in an ideal direction so that the magnetic command direction is permanently aligned with the instantaneous magnetic direction. Satellite angular position around the instantaneous magnetic direction is controlled using a kinematic moment.
