The regenerator tube is uniquely guided in the elongated part of the bottom by a ring (40), fixed to the body, and in which it slides. Since the guide bore and the rod guide are machined in one piece, its is possible to ensure a high degree of alignment between the bores, thus preventing tilt or misalignment. The device includes a gas compressor placed in a closed circuit with a temperature probe having an elongated body (10) closed by a bottom (14) thermally connected to a load, and whose body slides in a regenerator tube (26), decoupled mechanically from the compressor, and having a heat accumulation material, delimiting with this bottom, an expansion gas volume and fixed to the control rod (28), from which gas pressure variations originating from the compressor on the active surface of the rod, causes to and fro movement of the tube.
