An aqueous dispersion comprises photocatalytic titanium dioxide particles, a water soluble anionic dispersant having a molecular weight of at most 5000 and a water soluble ampholytic film-forming polymer of which the anionic charge is greater or equal to the cationic charge. The pH of the dispersion is at least 3. Independent claims are included for: (1) a self-cleaning substrate using the composition; and (2) the process for effecting the cleaning.
