The pressure plate assembly comprises a casing (22), a pressure plate (24) and a coupling device (40). Application of a rotational force relative to the casing engenders an axial component of the force on the pressure plate by the coupling device. The coupling device is connected by a first coupling zone (44) to a first fixing range (36) of the pressure plate and by a second coupling zone (48) to a second fixing range (38) of the casing. The two coupling zones are offset from each other in the direction of the rotational axis (A). A support device (54) supports the pressure plate relative to the casing when the pressure plate is acted upon by a rotational force in a second direction opposite the first direction unloading the coupling device.
