Execution of large applications on a chip card with low memory capacity without needing to run the application on a connected terminal, so increasing security and preventing illegal software copying

Execution of a large software application in a portable device having limited memory, such as a chip-card (CP). Execution of a part of the application, such as a software component (AGM), contained within an external library (BI) is called by the portable object for loading in memory when sufficient memory exists. If there is not sufficient memory the state of a preceding loaded application element is saved and then cleared to provide sufficient memory. In an iterative manner the whole application is executed. The invention also relates to a portable electronic object such as a chip card that is configured to execute applications according to the above method.
