Optically active polymers (I) produced by radical polymerization of an optically active epoxy-functional ethylenic monomer (II) and optionally at least one ethylenic comonomer (III), are new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) production of (I) by polymerizing (II) and optionally (III) in the presence of a radical initiator; (2) optically active polymers (I') produced by regiospecific stereoselective ring opening of all the epoxy functions of (I) with a nucleophilic reagent; (3) polymer materials useful as the stationary phase in chiral chromatography, produced by grafting (I') onto a chromatographic support.
