The access control is fitted to a vehicle (1) and has a controller (2) in the vehicle that communicates over a channel with a transponder (4) carried by the driver. The channel is not opened till the movement characteristics, determined by a movement detector (3) fitted to the vehicle and a movement detector (5) associated with the transponder, coincide with prescribed characteristics.
