Instantaneous velocity measurement for a golf club using a small sensor based on a rotating helix and magnetic axle whose rotation is detected by an induction coil and converted into a golf club instantaneous speed

Device for measuring the instantaneous velocity of a golf club comprises a speed sensor (11) and means for processing the signal from the sensor, means for transmitting the sensor signal to the processing means and electrical power source. The speed sensor comprises a helix that turns around a rotation axle that is perpendicular to the direction of club displacement and a permanent magnet integral with the rotation axle. An Independent claim is made for a corresponding method for measuring the instantaneous velocity of a club by making a helix rotate together with a permanent magnet that forms its integral axle. The rotation of the magnet is detected inductively by an induction coil. From the rotation time of the helix the instantaneous speed of the club is determined.
