The saloon car is fitted with a bodywork defining a roof (12) and a boot (14). The vehicle comprises a rear sub-assembly incorporating the boot lid and formed from a frame (20) and supports. The sub-assembly can be displaced from a lower position in which the supports are housed in the boot and an upper position in which the boot lid is at the level of the vehicle roof.
