Input method using display of three by three array of options corresponding to three by three keypad

A three by three (or nine grid) array of input options is displayed (BFig. 3b/B) so that each option is placed in a location associated with the location of one key (BKG1/B to BKG9/B) of an array of keys (BFig. 3a/B). Pressing one of the keys selects the displayed option corresponding to that key. Multiple level three by three arrays (see Bfigs. 6-13/B) enable a large quantity of data, e.g. English or Chinese language, to be inputted quickly and intuitively.
