PURPOSE: To provide a semi-active control damper suitably used for rolling stock, a building, or the like with extremely large mass on the vibration control side. ;CONSTITUTION: A control damper 3 is constituted of a unidirectional flow stroke sensing cylinder interposed between the vibration generating side 1 and the vibration control side 2, and a damping force control circuit which combines unloading function. In addition, a lateral vibration detecting detector 5 is installed for the vibration control side 2. On the other hand, the vibrating state of the vibration generating side 1 and vibration control side 2 is judged by a computer 32 using plus-minus damper displacement signals W1, W2 from the stroke sensing cylinder, plus-minus damper speed signals V1, V2 computed from the signals W1, W2, and plus-minus vibration control side speed signals U1, U2 detected by the detector 5. The generated damping force and unloading changeover of the damping force control circuit are controlled by command signals X, Y, Z from the computer 32 so as to effectively suppress the lateral vibration of the vibration control side 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
