PURPOSE: To produce granular particles having a desired shape and particle diameter distribution by measuring the particle diameter, the shape of particles and the particle diameter distribution of a granulated product by using an optical sensor in real time to control the operating condition of equipment. ;CONSTITUTION: A spray drying granulator is provided with a spry drying part 1 for hot-air drying of a feed liquid sprayed by a sprayer 3 to form fine particles and a fluidized granulating part 2 for granulating the fine particles into granulated powder of a prescribed particle diameter at the upper part and the lower part of a vessel, respectively. In this granulation control method using the spray drying granulator, after a part of granulated particles in the fluidized granulating part 2 is taken out from a sample takeoff port 9, it is subjected to primary making of particles by a high speed air current to eliminate the overlaid particles with each other, and is observed from multiple directions by a light transmission method to measure the three-dimensional form and particle diameter distribution of the granulated particles. Based on the measured results, the operating conditions of the spray drying granulator are changed and controlled.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
