PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply liquid smoothly to a liquid container partitioned into two chambers while lessening limitation. ;SOLUTION: A reservoir tank 3 comprises a chamber 16 for containing a negative pressure generating member 15, and an ink containing chamber 14 communicated with the negative pressure generating member containing chamber 16 through a communicating section 12. The ink containing chamber 14 is provided with valve members 17a, 17b. A supply tank 5 hold ink to be supplied to the ink containing chamber 14 and pipes 18a, 18b are located oppositely to the valve members 17a, 17b. The valve members 17a, 17b are coupled with the pipes 18a, 18b under a state where the liquid level in the ink containing chamber 14 is lower than the liquid level in the supply tank 5. The ink containing chamber 14 and the supply tank 5 define a substantially enclosed space except the communicating section 12 and ink is fed from the supply tank 5 to the ink containing chamber 14.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
