PURPOSE: To provide a novel metal complex originating from rare earth metal alkoxide catalyzing the advance of asymmetric Michael reaction. ;CONSTITUTION: A metal complex is prepared by mixing optically active binaphthol with a reaction mixture prepared by mixing a donor compd. of asymmetric Michael reaction and rare earth metal alkoxide and containing enolate of them in an amt. equimolar to rare earth metal alkoxide.
