PURPOSE: To trap mist produced during welding a branch pipe connecting socket to a low pressure pipe, by providing a leaf spring attached thereto with a heat- insulatable and air-permeable cloth, at the distal end of a retaining rod fitted in an insertion unit. ;CONSTITUTION: A socket fixing nipple 15 is screwed into a female thread 2 formed in a low pressure pipe 1, a socket 20 is fitted onto the nipple 15, and an insertion unit 25 is fitted in the socket 20. A substantially circular leaf spring 37 attached thereto with an insulatable and air-permeable cloth is rotatably attached to the distal end of a retaining rod 33 fitted in the insertion unit 25. With this arrangement, mist produced by the decomposition of epoxy resin applied to the interior of the low pressure pipe, due to heat generated during welding of the socket 20 to the low pressure pipe 1, can be trapped by the cloth 38. Further, the mist which passing through the cloth 38 without being trapped therein is emitted outside from the insertion unit 25, being carried by the stream of gas.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
